Dennis Bumgarner, ACSW, LCSW

Dennis Bumgarner has been the Clinical Director at Susan's Legacy since March 2014.  He received his M.S.W. from Indiana University in 1977.  Prior to moving to New Mexico he maintained a solution-oriented psychotherapy and training practice for thirty years in Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition to his clinical work, he has taught social work and psychotherapy at Ball State University and Christian Theological Seminary. Along with his work at Susan's Legacy, he is a clinical supervisor at the Sky Center in Santa Fe and operates his private therapy practice in Placitas.  He is the past president of Habitat for Humanity and Freewheelin' Community Bikes in Indianapolis.

Tiana Montoya, LMSW 

​Originally from California, Tiana has been a resident of Albuquerque since 2013. She has been with Susan's Legacy since January 2015, as a Counselor and Case Manager. Previously, she was an Intake Counselor and Discharge Coordinator at a recovery center for eating disorders in California. Tiana has training in Motivational Interviewing, SBIRT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. She is a veteran having spent 6 years in the United States Air Force, traveling around the world and serving in Iraq.  Tiana received her Master's Degree in Social Work in 2016 and hopes to one day be in the position to make policy changes that benefit the under-served and underprivileged.

Kathryn Weil, PhD

Kathryn Weil has been the Executive Director of Susan’s Legacy since 2012.  She is a retired educator having served as the Head of School for a private school for eleven years; as Assistant Superintendent for Accountability and Information Services with the New Mexico State Department of Education; and as an administrator for the Albuquerque Public Schools and the Rio Rancho Public Schools.  She also held a part-time faculty position at the UNM College of Education for 10 years.  In addition, Dr. Weil has 10 years of experience as an elementary school counselor at various schools within the APS system. She has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations and enjoys quilting, spending time with her grandchildren, and gardening.
