Programs & Services

  • Susan’s Legacy is a program for women with co-occurring mental and addictive disorders; sometimes called dual-diagnosis disorders.
  • The women we serve are predominantly homeless and are often involved with the criminal justice system; some have numerous felonies
  • With our support and assistance the women we serve work to stay stable with their mental illness and in recovery with their addiction—all are working to rebuild their lives:
    • They must work to become employed, stay housed, and become economically independent
    • They must stay compliant with court mandates and probationary requirements
    • They desperately work to build trust in their relationships with their children, and many are working to regain custody or visitation with their children
  • To enter our program, women must meet general criteria:
    • They must have an assessment to determine their diagnosis is one that meets the criteria of co-occurring mental and addictive disorder
    • Having met the eligibility criteria, some women may choose to only participate in individual stand-alone services, while others may choose to commit to our Support and Recovery Program
    • To enter our Support and Recovery Program, participants must be 60 days post-treatment and show a demonstrable commitment to recovery – drug and/or alcohol free.
