Quotes From Residents

"I have achieved many wonderful things since I have been with Susan’s Legacy. I just celebrated three wonderful years of recovery and, although it hasn’t been easy, they have been the best three years of my life. My relationship with my daughter continues to grow stronger every day, and now I am able to be a positive role model for and mentor to her friends and her…Susan’s Legacy has given me a chance to take the time to know myself and go after the things that I really want and not settle for just anything. I know now that someday (sooner than later) I will be self-sufficient and ready to move on."

"Susan’s Legacy has helped me so much in my life. I owe them my life. They gave me a second chance. They are helping me to build my self-esteem. They believed in me when I didn’t believe too much in myself. The one-on-one counseling is wonderful and helpful. The support group is great. My favorite is the life skills classes. I appreciate the monetary help with the rent as well. I love Susan’s Legacy, and I am so thankful for the program."

"I want to share with you why I came into Susan’s Legacy. I was in prison doing a five-year sentence, and I was fed up and tired of living my life so crazily when I knew I could do better. I heard about the program and, once I got my telephone intake completed, I knew I was heading somewhere, and I’d overcome my battle with addiction and receive help and support.

"Since I've been in the program I feel good. It’s wonderful to have help with housing so I can get on my feet and don’t have to stress about how I’m going to pay my bills. It’s also wonderful receiving case management. If I have a problem or need to talk to someone, my case manager is always available. The group counseling is great because the women in it all have so many different issues to discuss, and we are all addicts so we can relate and support one another. The life skills classes are very beneficial. They teach you how to handle things in your life. I’m looking forward to attending parenting classes and addressing budgeting issues relevant to me.

" I think it’s a rare opportunity to be in a program like this. I think it’s rare that there even is a program that helps women who want to change their lives. I’m so grateful to be a member of it and to receive the kind of support I am getting. My life is better because I am involved with Susan’s Legacy."                                                             Tanya
